Another PlastiK was founded to address a structural gap in Tunisia’s waste economy. The plastic crisis extends beyond coastlines: it impacts streets, forests, countryside, and water systems. The environmental and economic costs compound with every year of inaction. Tunisia’s waste infrastructure was not designed for circularity. The prevailing model is linear: collect, dispose, forget.
We identified a critical market failure: brands make sustainability claims without verifiable proof, while consumers lack transparency on product origins and impact. We built a solution: traceable furniture with embedded QR codes. Every piece documents its journey— certified waste collection, material processing, manufacturing, and guaranteed take-back.

Asma Chafter Founder & CEO, Another PlastiK

Our story began with a market gap and a systemic challenge.
Plastic waste had moved beyond environmental concern. It had become an economic inefficiency embedded in ecosystems, cities, water systems, and supply chains. Across the Mediterranean, particularly in Tunisia, plastic is omnipresent yet treated as an externality.
My background combines engineering, business management, and environmental science. I led cross-functional teams and managed complex operations before pivoting toward environmental impact—working across West African mangroves, alpine ecosystems, and Mediterranean landscapes. From geospatial modeling at UNEP/GRID to ISO environmental management systems at Richemont to teaching mangrove ecology, one principle became clear: sustainability requires measurable systems, not aspirations.
Tunisia’s recycling infrastructure operates at 4–7% efficiency. The system prioritizes convenience over circularity. Walking coastal areas made the structural gap evident. Impact needed verification. Materials needed accountability. Markets needed proof.
That challenge became Another PlastiK.
