Our Calculation Methodology

Every number we publish is backed by peer-reviewed LCA data and conservative estimates.

CO₂ Savings

We calculate the avoided greenhouse gas emissions by comparing recycled plastic production against virgin plastic production using cradle-to-gate LCA factors.

Water Savings

Water footprint reduction is based on the difference in freshwater consumption between recycled and virgin plastic production processes, per kg of material.

Conservative Approach

Where multiple data sources exist, we always use the lowest (most conservative) saving factor. Mixed plastics use PP factors — the least favourable of the three.
